AnimeSimilar collects minimal data to provide our anime recommendation service. We collect anonymous usage data including search queries and page visits. We do not require account creation or collect personal identifying information.
2. Voting System
Our voting feature uses a locally stored anonymous identifier (UUID) to track your votes. This identifier is stored in your browser's local storage and is not linked to any personal information. We also store a hashed version of your IP address to prevent vote manipulation.
3. Cookies & Local Storage
We use browser local storage to save your anonymous voter identifier. We do not use tracking cookies or third-party analytics that identify individual users.
4. Third-Party Services
We use the Jikan API (unofficial MyAnimeList API) to fetch anime cover images. We use Google Gemini AI to generate anime recommendations. No personal user data is shared with these services.
5. Data Storage
Generated anime recommendation pages and associated votes are stored in our database. This data does not contain personally identifiable information.
